KaLMA

Description
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we played a crucial role in the KaLMA project, reaching over 37,000 pupils in Kano State with learning materials and educational radio content. Funded by FCDO and FHI360. MSwitch Global championed the learning-by-radio broadcast component of the KaLMA HBL campaign by facilitating, producing and airing the broadcast of the HBL radio content on two major radio stations in Kano State: Arewa 93.1FM and Freedom 99.5FM. We were instrumental in developing the production crew needed for the project. We reinvented the classrooms through imagination and creativity, engaging as creative partners of the British Council that actualized the KaLMA mission. Through our creative processes, we produced unique, engaging content and featured weekly live feedback sessions on media platforms, extending their current network for awareness, partnerships, and impact to Northern Nigeria. The target was pupils from p4-p6, but the uneducated adults benefited too through the airing of the radio programme. The location was in Kano, targeting 2 LGA Dawakin Tofa and Wudil LGAs, but we went beyond exceeding expectations.
KaLMA Worksheets
To reinforce the engagement with pupils, KaLMA provided each beneficiary with worksheets containing illustrations and activities corresponding to their various learning levels. These Worksheets will bridge home-based learning and in-school activities in English, Hausa and Mathematics for about 30,000 pupils at different learning levels.
KaLMA Documentary
The project’s scope was to produce high-definition educational videos using documentary-style impact and high-quality photos for the KaLMA project. Placing a special emphasis on girls and capturing all learning activities such as participant training, assessment, grouping, materials, learning spaces, review meetings, SD cards and neighbourhood learning groups.
